3D Motion Design & Animation

Software Proficiencies: Cinema4D, Blender, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator

Philo and Sophie, Healing the Culture

I modeled and animated several 3D elements in Blender for this educational series.

Modeling and Animation: For the YouTube end screens I took inspiration from the two aquatic characters and modeled a scallop-like shell in Blender.  I then animated the shell with the words popping out of it. In After Effects I added bubbles using Trapcode Particular.

Modeling: Most of the series was shot on green screen and required the creation of digital backgrounds. I modeled this scene in Blender so that the angles and lighting on the shelves and trophies was accurate.

Cinema4D Basecamp Coursework, School of Motion

In this intensive 12-week course I learned everything from modeling to animation to rendering. Below are a few of assignments where I excelled.

Lighting: We were given the model and instructed to create unique lighting setups for a sci-fi setting, late-night show, morning show, and noir setting. I had some fun with the last, and added some animation and video to give it that classic noir vibe.

Mograph Tools and Animation: After building a city scape using C4D’s mograph tools we were instructed to animate the buildings. I decided to go the extra step and animate it to a beat.

Animation: Several lessons focused on animating various scenes. These two are my favorite as they gave me opportunities for creativity and simple storytelling.

Rendering and Compositing: In our final lessons we were tasked more with the final output – how to render in a timely fashion while maintaining quality. It was an opportunity for me to rely some too on my experience in After Effects.
